WORKSHOPS AND CONSULTANCY REGULATIONS
 

Mostra Elas had its first edition in 2017 in the city of Salvador (BA) in the format of an audiovisual exhibition and, since then, it has been developing actions that aim to provide spaces for visibility, appreciation, dissemination and discussion about the production of films made by women and female performance in audiovisual.

 

The proposal Mostra Elas – Formative Actions is an offshoot of the Mostra Elas – Films Directed by Women, this time focusing on training and encouraging women's participation in the audiovisual market, expanding its presence in other technical areas of the cinema economic chain.

 

For this, 13 online workshops will be held, taught by experienced professionals from Bahia, and aimed at women, transgender and non-binary people residing in the state of Bahia, who are interested in working in the audiovisual area. The initiative also has a script consultancy for 06 short and feature film projects, in addition to 05 lives with guests active in the segment.

 

The project has financial support from the State of Bahia through the Secretariat of Culture and the Cultural Foundation of the State of Bahia (Programa Aldir Blanc Bahia) via the Aldir Blanc Law, directed by the Special Secretariat for Culture of the Ministry of Tourism, Federal Government.

 

  1. LIST OF WORKSHOPS/CONSULTING

 

  1. 1 Fiction Script Workshop: Writing workshop for cinema, divided into two moments. One part is theoretical-methodological, based on film dramaturgy, working on basic concepts for the construction of a plot and script writing, such as concept, theme, tone, characters, dramatic arc, dialogues. The second part is practical, with writing exercises and planning the creation of a short film script.

Amanda Aouad (Facilitator): PhD in Contemporary Communication and Culture from the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA), with research in the areas of dramaturgy, audiovisual language and serial narratives. She is a professor of audiovisual at Unifacs and Uniceusa, as well as a screenwriter-tutor for the Usina do Drama Project at UFBA and an independent script consultant. Screenwriter for Núcleo Anima Bahia (2015-2019), she was also part of Núcleo TV Show (2017), coordinated by Doc Comparato, and is co-author and screenwriter of the animation project A Guardiã.

  1. 2 Documentary Script Workshop: Online workshop that aims to address some of the writing and editing procedures of a documentary film. Aimed at the public with little or no experience, the activity will feature three meetings, where the following topics will be addressed: audiovisual writing; poetics of the image; narrative composition modes; and documentary projects.

 

Tenille Bezerra (Facilitator): She is from Valença, Bahia. Filmmaker and executive producer graduated in Communication, she has been working for about 17 years in the audiovisual market in Bahia. In 2020, he released the films “Aleluia, o canto infinite do Tincoã” (67min) and “Ventania no Coração da Bahia” (25min). Poet, he had his first book of poems, “rumor”, released in 2017 by Moinhos.  

 

  1. 3 Fiction Film Directing Workshop: An audiovisual direction course based on the crossroads system, will observe the aesthetic possibilities of the hegemonic narrative structure in parallel with the narrative structure of this system. It will discuss viable ways for the composition and management of creative teams and will allow the participating public to experiment with the processes of creating roles and character mapping as dialectical instruments between direction and performance.

 

Viviane Ferreira (Facilitator): Partner-director of Odun Filmes, CEO of RAIO (Rede Audiovisual de Inclusão Orquestrada) and of the streaming platform TodesPlay, professor of the Cinema and Audiovisual course at ESPM São Paulo, president of the Association of Black Audiovisual Professionals (APAN) and artistic director of the “Encontro de Cinema Negro Zózimo Bulbul – Brazil, Africa, the Caribbean and Other Diasporas”.

 

  1. 4 Documentary Direction Workshop: Ethical Issues in Documentary. Documentary types and schools. The stages of making a documentary: research, filming, editing, distribution. How to format a project: script, script, budget, executive project.

 

Maria Carol (Facilitator): Filmmaker and partner at Lanterninha Produções. Graduated in Arts, she has been working as a director, producer, editor and screenwriter since 2007. Her work seeks sensitive encounters between cinema and life, looking for themes related to human rights. He directed animated, documentary and live action short films and his first documentary feature, “Diários de Classe”, after going through important festivals, entered the commercial circuit of 19 Brazilian capitals, in addition to being shown on Canal Brasil.

        

  1. 5 Assistant Director Workshop: The workshop aims to provide basic content on the work dynamics, tools and functions of an assistant director at all stages of an audiovisual project, whether fiction or documentary, short, feature, series or video clip. Classes are based on the practical experience of the lecturer, with explanation, presentation of document models and a proposal for a practical activity of technical analysis and/or filming plan of a short or scene script, brought by the participant or offered by the lecturer.

 

Tais Bichara (Facilitator): Graduated in Journalism from UFBA, she has been working as a cultural producer since 2010. She is the creator and director of the documentary series “Donas do Baba” (@donasdobaba), about women and football. As an assistant director, he worked on several Bahian productions, such as music videos, fiction shorts and features, documentaries and documentary series for TV.

 

  1. 6 Cinematography: O Olho e O Olhar: The workshop proposes to deal with the production of images, within the audiovisual, from two aspects: 1. the image and its creative process under a critical perspective; 2. the technique and film sets. With the objective of facilitating the creative and technical development of the students, the themes will always be crossed by the perspective of experience and a critical look at the construction of processes through the dialogue between the facilitator and those present.

 

Fanny Oliveira (Facilitator): born in Salvador/BA, graduated in Philosophy from the State University of Bahia (UNEB), technician in Administration and Logistics, social educator, photographer and audiovisual director. She works as the creator of the Zuruba Arte project and, based on this, researches the production of images as a social relationship. She worked as cinematographer in films such as “Senhora das Ruas” (2018), “Memories of a not me” (2019), “Viva Nossa voz” (2020), “O ovo” (2021) and in the series “Diário de Suburban Artist” (2019), “Empreendedoras do Pelourinho” (2019) and “Vai, planeta!” (2020).

 

  1. 7 Sound Capture for Film and TV Workshop: The workshop aims to present the fundamentals of direct sound capture for film and television. Theoretical and practical, it will address the various stages of this fundamental subject in audiovisual production. The objective is not only to improve the skills of audio professionals, but also to train new techniques in the area, providing the basic elements to train them in the function of direct sound techniques.

 

Ana Luiza Penna (Facilitator): professional, she has worked on features, TV series, short films and documentaries for the last 19 years. Among them are: “Sons of Carnival”, HBO/O2 films; “City of Homes”, 02 Films; “Falsa Blonde”, by Carlos Reichembar; “Nome Proper”, by Murilo Salles; “Ox of the Bull”, by Hermano Penna; “Devil to Four”, by Alice Andrade; “Travessia”, by João Gabriel; and “Signals of Ash”, by Henrique Dantas.

 

  1. 8 Art Direction Workshop: Through expository content about the technical structure of a film, in addition to provocations about what it is to think about art direction from disruptive references, the workshop seeks to provoke the participant to better understand their own creative process. This involves understanding the various references and constructions that compose us, embracing the various languages and sensory stimuli that the narrative encompasses and appropriating all these elements to build an art project with cohesion and narrative depth.

 

Andressa Mascarenhas (Facilitator): Architect and urban planner graduated from the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA) and art director from the Academia Internacional de Cinema – São Paulo. She has been working as a set designer and art director since 2015, collaborating in the audiovisual market in several projects such as short and feature films, television series, advertisements and plays.

 

  1. 9 Costume Workshop: The purpose of the workshop is to detail the creative and practical process in the development of costumes for film and TV. Creation of image narratives, through the look of the costume designer, how the costume helps to build the characters and how the dialogue with the art direction and other sectors involved in an audiovisual work takes place.

 

Diana Moreira (Facilitator): In the market since 2002, she carries out projects in the areas of cinema, theater and dance. Feature films: “A Spyglass of Time”, “War of Cotton” and “The Last Season”. International experience: series “Vikings”, seasons II, III and V, and feature film “The man who invented Christmas”.

 

  1. 10 Editing Workshop – Audiovisual Sewing: The activity proposes an experience of dialogues and practical exercises on audiovisual editing as a conscious gesture of synesthetic sewing.

 

Nin La Croix (Facilitator): Non-binary person who works building audiovisual expressions from conceptualization, capture to the final sewing in copyright videos, records/memorials and installations that dialogue and are built from assemblages with performative actions, music, theater, dance and knowledge transmission processes. Admittedly, a manifest record, an affected and active look to affect.

 

  1. 11 Video Production for Mobile Devices: The workshop aims to enable the production of quality audiovisual materials with homemade solutions, through the mobile device.

 

Fabíola Silva (Facilitator): Born in Salvador, she works as director of photography and 1st camera assistant. She is the director of CineQuebradas. His main works are “Culturama” (2017), reality show (1st camera assistant), “Solidão da Mulher Preta” (2018), music video (direction and photography), “Sonhadores” (2018), series (2nd assistant camera), “Frecência Positiva” (2018), series (1st assistant camera), “Amora” (2019), music video (direction and photography) and “Programa Transmissão” (2020), TV show on Canal Brasil (camera operator and photography assistant).

 

  1.   12 Production Management Workshop: The workshop aims to examine the profile of a production director, taking into account: the team's organizational chart and the relationship of this professional with each audiovisual area; ways of organizing a work schedule; how to perform a technical analysis of the script; budget models and administrative management; planning; and the work in each phase of the project (pre-production, filming and post-production).

 

Daiane Rosário (Facilitator): Founder and general director of the Itinerant Exhibition of Black Cinemas – Mahomed Bamba (MIMB), where she guides the expansion of windows that discuss new narratives of race and gender in cinematographic productions. Producer and editor in the cultural market, she has a degree in Arts with an emphasis on Cinema and Audiovisual from the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA), with more than nine years of experience in the area. The works in which he participated include TV shows, series and films, web series and video clips. She curates exhibitions, festivals and cultural projects.

 

  1. 13 Executive Production Workshop: The activity aims to address the role of the executive producer in different offices, exploring points such as tax incentives, financial administration and accountability; practical checklist; relationship with the team; duties and limitations; in addition to the reflection on new practices of film production in Brazil.

 

Isolda Libório (Facilitator): Producer and film director, yogini, graduated in Social Communication with specialization in Film and Video, postgraduate in Financial Planning and Behavioral Finance. Facilitates personal and movie financial planning processes. He worked in the executive production of the series “Babel/SP” (HBO), by André Amparo – Filmegraph, and “Da Manga Rosa”, by Cecília Amado – Tenda dos Milagres, in addition to the documentaries “Where Sleep Dreams” and “UBP – Universo Percussive Baiano”, both by Cecília Amado – Tenda dos Milagres. He was with other productions by directors such as Geraldo Sarno, Paulo Caldas and Marcos Bernstein, among others.

 

  1. 14 Script Consulting: The consulting involves reading and analyzing the current treatment of the script/script; Skype discussion with the screenwriter about universe, plot, characters, locations, conflicts, scenes and dialogues; references and research suggestions, when applicable; sharing adaptation and writing techniques, when appropriate.

 

Francine Barbosa (Facilitator): Scriptwriter, she worked for several production companies in the development of series on varied themes – crime, medicine, history, young people –, highlighting “A Revolta dos Malês” for SescTv; “Brotherhood,” for Netflix; and “As Five”, for Globoplay. In cinema, he usually works in partnership with directors in the development of his authorial works, as in “Castela”, by Dea Ferraz; “Shine Your Eyes/Bird City”, by Matias Mariani; and “Azul Violeta”, by Maurilio Martins. He was a member of selection committees for Brlab, Ministry of Culture, São Paulo International Short Film Festival and Avon Audiovisual Fund, among others.

 

  2. PERFORMANCE PERIOD

 

2.1 The workshops, consultancy and lives that make up the program of the Mostra Elas – Formative Actions project will be held between February 22 (Monday) and March 31, 2021 (Wednesday);

 

2.2 Each activity has specific hours, dates and times that can be consulted in their respective menus;

 

2.3 All actions will be carried out live, in a virtual environment.

 

  3. REGISTRATIONS

 

3.1 Registration for the activities is free and will be done through individualized forms per action, available on the website www.giroplanejamentocultural.com.br/mostraelas ;

 

3.2 The workshops and consultancy are aimed at women, transgender and non-binary people, residing in Bahia, who are interested in working in the audiovisual area;

 

3.3 At least 30% of workshop spaces will be reserved for:

  • Racial quotas: cis women, trans and non-binary black and indigenous people;

  • PwD (Persons with Disabilities) quotas: cis women, trans and non-binary persons with disabilities;

  • Gender Quotas: trans and non-binary people.

 

3.4 Each activity has an age group delimitation and specific prerequisites, according to its target audience;

 

3.5 The registration period for each action will be published through the website www.giroplanejamentocultural.com.br/mostraelas, as well as the necessary prerequisites and target audience.

 

  4. SELECTION

 

4.1 The selection of participants will be carried out by the facilitators of each activity, following the criteria set out in the respective menus;

 

4.2 Those selected will receive a confirmation email and the list of participants for each action will be published on the website www.giroplanejamentocultural.com.br/mostraelas .

 

 

  5. IMAGE RIGHTS

 

Participants allow their images and voices to be used for the purpose of publicizing and promoting the event and its partners. This disclosure is not commercial in nature.

 

  6. WORKSHOPS REGULATION AND CERTIFICATION

6.1 To receive the certificate of participation, it is necessary that the participants have obtained a frequency of at least 75% in relation to the total workload of the workshop.

 

6.2 Sending the registration form for the activities of the Mostra Elas – Formative Actions project implies the complete acceptance of this regulation.
